Welcome! I am Mary Ann May, and I am a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner who is passionate about health. I have 20 years of experience with a health focused energy and have recently added some targeted labs that will allow me to be even more effective teaching people how to get to the root causes of their health problems. We have the power to reconnect to our bodies with intuition and care. I hope you agree, and if you need help with your health journey please connect with me!
Food Matters
I generally started eating better when I was first pregnant - thinking what goes in is going to build this baby's body and mind. Trying to eat more vegetables and fruits was a bit tricky, then I realized they are very tasty when not from a can! About 20 years ago a friend left her "Mastering the Zone" book. I picked it up and after reading a few chapters, the proverbial light bulb went over my head. "Wow, this is how food works in our body." This was also a pivotal change for me. I ate according to the prescribed 40C/30P/30F plan and lost 12 lbs. and had lots of energy! This was the true beginning of change! Now I realize how this helped me so much given how my body oxidizes food. So great how things come back in a circle when you keep moving forward!
Yoga is one of my passions
Who knew I was going to jump into a yoga class when I was younger? I was the one who took all the hard body classes and had a very tight body to go along with that! One day in 2010, I was sick of getting a rib out of place that needed to be fixed by my chiropractor, and said, "I am too young to be breaking down." After that, I tried a Vinyasa yoga class that is a flow class and hurt myself again. Nope, not for me. Thankfully, I tried another class that was an Iyengar class, and that has changed my body and life. With a masterful teacher who has guided me throughout this journey I am now much more flexible and do not fall out of place much at all anymore. I still go to the chiropractor proactively, but not in the same wreck of a body I used to be. Again so grateful I listened to my inner voice!
Gratitude Practice
I never even thought of gratitude until the unimaginable happened to my family back in 2013. After losing my high school sweetheart husband of 32 years to an accident, my world crashed down on me and my two adolescent girls. Truly, this was devastating in so many ways, but a silver lining appeared to me in no uncertain way. Right before a panic attack ensued I got the gumption to declare I wasn't a victim to myself out loud and made a commitment to myself to stay on the gratitude path. That was the single best thing I could have done for myself and have recommended this to several who have lost a loved one. There is so much to be grateful for if you stop and take stock of your life. Waking up each day, being loved, having enough food, etc. Even the most basic - just being born you, you beat some incredible odds! Remember that!
